US Tile was purchased by Boral Industries, INC., in 1988. Boral shared the US Tile vision and invested $12 million in plant improvements, including two roller hearth kilns, which are among the largest in the world (achieving peak temperatures of 1900 degrees f); state-of-the-art grinders turning clay into a super-fine face-powder consistency; and packaging equipment custom-designed for US Tile by a premier Italian firm.

The Boral investment set the stage for a string of remarkable industry innovations, all achieved while maintaining a single-minded focus on the beauty of the natural earthen hues and time-tested performance of authentic clay tile.
